Bloomberg launches Bloomberg Business platform in Asia

Bloomberg has launched a new Asia edition of Bloombergbusiness.com, with a locally based editorial team delivering content to a business audience across the region.

This launch comes following the unveiling of Bloomberg Business Europe in April, allowing Bloomberg’s global reporting team of more than 2,400 journalists, of which 500 are based across 24 Asia Pacific cities, the ability to deliver more localised content to business and finance professionals.

The newly-formed team of editors in Hong Kong will be led by Anjali Kapoor, formerly director of digital news strategy at The Globe and Mail in Canada.

Kapoor will work on bringing together Bloomberg’s existing media assets, including Bloomberg News, Bloomberg Businessweek, Bloomberg Markets and Pursuits magazines, Bloomberg Television, Bloomberg Radio and original digital video to chronicle capitalism throughout Asia.

“We have expanded our Asia coverage across all our platforms and our new Asia-based editorial team will deliver more relevant stories to our growing audience in the region,” said Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait. “We will now push ahead with a more concerted reporting effort across Asia.”

As of September, Bloomberg’s digital properties had reached three point six million unique desktop visitors in the Asia Pacific region, with a 34% year-over-year growth in unique visitors in Asia.

“Bloomberg has had a huge year in digital product launches beginning with the introduction of our Bloomberg Business flagship in January,” said Bloomberg Media chief executive officer Justin Smith, going on to discuss how the latest launch will help deliver a modern, mobile-first experience to global decision makers.

“We are excited that we’ll now be able to arm business audiences in Asia with fast-moving news and authoritative analysis that is tailored to them while offering enhanced opportunities to our partners in the region.”

As well as breaking news and mobile alerts, the new site will include active social media curation and sharing from Bloomberg’s Twitter and Facebook accounts. Like its global parent site, Bloomberg Business Asia will be powered by custom tech platform Brisket, enabling editors to rearrange and reshape the site in infinite ways.
