Dentsu Aegis Network has continued its growth into Africa with the acquisition of Ghanaian agencies Premier Media Company and Adams Media.

Adams Media will rebrand to Carat, while Premier Media will take on the name of the network’s Vizeum agency.

Adams Media currently operates with 24 employees and its clients include Coca-Cola, Microsoft and Philips, while Premier Media – founded in 1999 – works with brands including Guinness, Shell and Cadbury.

Andrew Ackah will take on the position of chief executive for Dentsu Aegis Network in Ghana, overseeing both of the agencies. He will report to Dawn Rowlands, CEO of for South and Sub-Sahara Africa.

Prior to joining Dentsu Aegis Network, Ackah spent 10 years leading GroupM agency MediaCom in Ghana.

“Both Adams Media and Premier Media’s services are aligned with our own vision of innovating the way brands are built, and this acquisition strengthens our desire to significantly increase Dentsu Aegis Network’s contribution locally and regionally,” said Rowlands.

Ackah added: “I am really excited about the opportunity to lead the Dentsu Aegis Network business in Ghana.

“This will enable us to combine the best of local expertise, with world-class tools and systems that will help our client base derive value from media owner relationships, enhance brand experiences and help cement digital as a means to maximise efficiencies and return on investment in our market.”

It follows the news that MEC opened its first office in Ghana last month, as part of its expansion into Sub-Saharan Africa.
