HTC calls $157m global media review

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC has put its estimated $157m global media planning and buying account out for pitch, as it looks to consolidate the business into one network.

ZenithOptimedia is the incumbent on the European account and parts of Asia. Deutsch Los Angeles handles the business in North America and HTC also works with a number of local agencies.

Earlier this year, the smartphone manufacturer invited agencies to pitch to handle its social media activity globally. A decision is yet to be made.

The move to consolidate its global media business follows the appointment of ad agency Mother as the lead creative agency on its global advertising account in October last year.

In April, the agency was responsible for HTC’s global ‘As Recommended By’ marketing strategy which kicked off with a free fall fashion shoot promoting the HTC One X and HTC One S handsets.
