In a blog post, Eddie Kessler, Google’s director of streams, wrote: “Since we last posted, we’ve spent a lot of time listening to what people using Google+ had to say,” reads the blog, going on to talk about how popular the Communities and Collections features have been.

Google+ has been rebuilt across web, Android and iOS to increase cross-screen speed and consistency.

“Creating great products that solve real needs and make life easier for people is something Google is always striving for,” the blog says.

“We look forward to seeing how today’s changes help kick-start even more conversations around everything from Zombie Cats to Vintage Calculators.

This news comes despite recent bad omens for the platform including the removal of YouTube integration and Hangouts being reinvented as a stand-alone service. The new redesign is available from today if you opt in, with mobile updates coming soon.
