Shutterstock’s API technology will integrate with Google’s ad platform to allow the use of stock images on products including Adsense, Adwords and Admob.

The licensing deal is designed to bolster Google’s mission to provide businesses with a “quick and impactful” responsive ad format.

Google’s technology can programmatically match professional images to advertising copy.

Shutterstock claims its API solution allows Google to easily test the performance of imagery with copy.

Google director of product management Woojin Kim said: “High quality images are essential to create engaging marketing for advertisers of all sizes.

“Shutterstock’s API has enabled a fast and seamless integration to enable Google to offer Shutterstock’s vast image library for digital advertising.”

Shutterstock founder and chief executive Jon Oringer said: “We developed our API and enterprise platforms to make it easy for companies like Google to access professional, high-quality content at scale and in a way that makes sense for their unique workflow.”
