Hearst Magazines International commercial boss Andy Hart has left the business after only a year in the role.

Former Microsoft Europe vice president Hart joined Elle and Cosmopolitan publisher Hearst last year as senior vice president, chief revenue officer, with a remit to oversee all print and digital ad revenue outside of the US.

It followed a four-year sting heading up the advertising business across Europe for Microsoft, and its MSN, Bing, Skype and Xbox brands. His departure followed Microsoft’s decision to shift its global display ad business to AOL.

Before joining the technology giant, Hart worked in a variety of agency and media roles in publishing and tech, including at Ask Jeeves, Associated Northcliffe and the now obsolete Sunday Business newspaper.

According to Hart’s LinkedIn page, he has set up a new venture, entitled Artcellerator, with the aim of helping artists to develop links with businesses to accelerate their commercial success.

A Hearst spokesperson told Campaign: “Andy Hart, senior vice president, chief revenue officer, Hearst Magazines International, has decided to leave the company. We thank him for all his hard work and wish him well for the next stage of his career.”

Hart is the latest senior figure to depart Hearst, following the exit of Hearst Magazines International chief executive Duncan Edwards in June, and Hearst UK CEO Anna Jones last month.
