IPG Mediabrands has promoted long-serving executive Jim Hytner to the role of global chief operating officer.
Hytner, former CEO for the Mediabrands G14 collection of markets, will step up to the global COO post in September. He will report into IPG Mediabrands chief executive Henry Tajer.
In his last role, Hytner led Mediabrands’ three agencies – UM, Initiative and BPN – and was responsible for global clients including Unilever and BMW. He has also previously held senior positions at Barclays and ITV.
Tajer, who took over the role of CEO from Matt Seiler at the beginning of May, has also appointed former executive director, global client leadership at Mindshare, Dervilla Kelly, as global chief client officer, reporting into Hytner.
Tajer said: “We have an ambitious plan to strengthen our business globally, and we are embracing a period of positive change.
“Talent is central to my vision for IPG Mediabrands, so I am delighted to be able to appoint the very vest people from within the company, as well as bring in proven top class talent from the wider industry.”
Tajer also announced that the company’s head of PR and communications for G14 markets, Genevieve Loriant, has been appointed to global chief communications officer.
