Emmy award-winning actress Jennifer Aniston has made a new friend in the latest global digital and TV advert for Emirates, building on her 2015 campaign for the airline.
In the advert, Aniston befriends a young boy on an A380 aircraft, who expresses his aspiration to become a pilot of “this plane”. Aniston then exchanges her Private Suite with the boy’s mum, choosing instead to remain in economy class and enjoy the entertainment system.
“A year ago, when we launched our first ad featuring Jennifer Aniston, we were overwhelmed by what a social phenomenon it became,” said Emirates divisional senior vice president, corporate communications, marketing and brand Boutros Boutros.
“The humour resonated with audiences around the world, and the ad was viewed by millions of people, generating thousands of conversations. Fans of both Emirates and Jennifer loved her effortless charm and humour, and enjoyed a story that deviated from traditional airline advertising.”
Boutros said Emirates was “overrun” with requests to see Aniston again, leading it to create the hashtag #JensBack.
“She has an enduring, universal appeal that is at once sophisticated, but also down to earth – a great match for our brand. This new ad perfectly captures the fun, spontaneity and glamour of flying on Emirates, and we are confident audiences will find it as memorable as the first,” he said.
The TV advert was directed by Oscar-nominee Bryan Buckley, who has worked on many Super Bowl ads, and the script and creative concept was a collaboration between Buckley and Emirates’ in-house advertising team, produced in conjunction with the WPP Group.
Emirates was shortlisted for International Advertiser of the Year 2016 at this year’s M&M Global Awards.
