1 – SUMMARISE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS

Passionate, problem-solver, optimistic.

2 – WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO PURSUE A CAREER IN MEDIA AND MARKETING?

My background is in technology, where I have worked in engineering roles at Netscape and AOL in Silicon Valley. It wasn’t until I was leading projects delivering high frequency, scalable ad-serving systems that I was brought into the world of marketing and advertising. I’ve always been interested in the impact that technology can have on advertising, it’s the blend of technology with creative and strategic thought that fundamentally inspires me.

3 – DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL CLIENT

A collaborative client, willing to innovate and invest in mobile, recognising the opportunity that awaits in this market.

4 – NAME YOUR FAVOURITE EVER CAMPAIGN

The P&G Rio 2016 ad Thank You, Mom really resonated with me as a great example of brand advertising at scale with a compelling idea at its heart.

5 – WHICH AWARD WIN ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF, AND WHY?

Given what a sartorially stellar bunch we are, it goes without saying that it is the Best Dressed Award at the AdMaxim End of Year party (no bribery was involved).

6 – WHO IS THE BEST INDUSTRY SPEAKER YOU HAVE SEEN?

Rory Sutherland is very insightful. He is not afraid to ruffle feathers, and has great insights on the creative process, the advertising landscape and brand strategy, all drawn from his many years of experience. A TED talk he gave a few years ago is a great example of him sharing his many life lessons as an ad man.

7 – WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM, AND WHY?

I mainly use social media to keep in touch with family and friends across the world, and Facebook is still very much the platform that has the biggest reach to keep in touch with them all.

8 – WHERE IS YOUR IDEAL MEETING VENUE?

Illy have opened a massive café on Regent St near our London office where I love to meet contacts – it’s a great space and the staff are very friendly.

9 – WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE RESTAURANT?

I love sushi so Nobu is up there, but equally Amaya and Lahore Kebab House are where I think you get the best Desi food in London.

10 – WHAT IS HOT IN INTERNATIONAL MEDIA AND MARKETING, AND WHAT IS NOT?

We’ve recently invested a lot of product effort into native advertising and think that it is a huge growth area. Primarily because native ad formats give a better user experience, and that is partly why they tend to drive much better performance.

In terms of what’s not hot – the standard ad network model.

11 – WHICH INDUSTRY BUZZWORD WOULD YOU BAN?

We could scrap all the acronyms for the various ad tech platforms without anyone missing them too much.

12 – WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 10 YEARS’ TIME?

Having run a growing business at breakneck speed for the best part of a decade, in another ten years I very much hope I’ll be in Hawaii having a long rest!

13 – FINALLY, WHO WOULD PLAY YOU IN A MOVIE OF YOUR LIFE?

It’s got to be Pacino for the drama and Cruise for the action scenes (as you can imagine in ad tech engineering there have been lots of those).
