It represents the most recent senior exit from Mondelez, following the slew of departures, including global media chief Bob Rupczynski, who left last month after only four months with the company.

Bonin Bough, chief media and e-commerce officer, left last year to pursue his own projects, while global head of content and media monetisation Laura Henderson also withdrew to join BuzzFeed.

Just last week, Mondelez announced that exec vice president and president of its North America business Roberto Marques is leaving, with Cofer covering the role in an interim capacity.

While no replacement for Anderson has yet been announced, growth officer Tim Cofer said in a statement that the search for a successor will focus on finding a “digital-first, disruptive and innovative leader who can build on Dana’s legacy and mobilise breakthrough marketing in a rapidly changing global consumer landscape”.

However, the company has named two new appointments: Stefania Gvillo will join from PepsiCo, where she was vice president of portfolio strategy and consumer insights, as global head of strategic insights, and Jay Gouliard joins at the beginning of May as global head of packaging.

In her new role, Anderson will be focused on transformation that changes behaviour and connects new ways of working, with the aim of strengthening brands and supporting growth and partnerships. She will be based in the company’s Chicago office and report to MediaLink chairman and chief executive Michael Kassan as a member of his executive team.

“Dana brings a rare mix of business intelligence developed as a global marketer combined with go-to-market ingenuity developed as an agency CEO,” said Kassan.

“One of the more commanding and engaging voices in the marketing space right now, she has guided multiple organisations successfully through periods of disruption and transformation, and now MediaLink clients will have a tremendous new resource to help them navigate a global marketplace that is in a state of perpetual churn.”

Anderson was most recently accountable for Mondelez’ global portfolio of advertising, media and marketing partners, overseeing the teams responsible for agency relations, brand equity, brand strategy, marketing capabilities, media and digital.

Prior to joining Mondelez, she served as president and chief executive officer at DDB Chicago and FCB Chicago as well as key strategy roles at other agencies.

“MediaLink has carved out unique expertise at the intersection of marketing, entertainment, tech and media, which no other advisory firm has mastered,” said Anderson.

“This incredible opportunity at MediaLink allows me to combine my work values with my professional expertise to help others see the developing marketplace with a different perspective – one that understands and brings simplicity to the radically complex world that marketers must navigate today.”

Dee Salomon will also formally take on the role she has been developing at MediaLink since July 2016, namely as senior vice president, curator in residence, working corporately and with clients to shape content at major events and thought leadership strategy as well as partner with Ascential companies.

Last week, Wenda Harris Millard was appointed to lead MediaLink’s new London office.
