Havas Media heads to the Philippines
08 May 2012
Havas Media has launched Havas Media Ortega in the Philippines with the support of several advertising industry heavyweights.
Havas Media Ortega will bring together Havas’ MPG and Media Contacts agencies in the area, creative think tank Collab and the mobile network Mobext that Havas acquired in January.
The new chairman and chief executive of the venture, Jos Ortega, has brand expertise in the Asia-Pacific region, co-founded BBDO Guerrero Ortega and served as chief executive at JWT. He is also the co-founder and chairman of BrandLab.
The agency is also joined by internationally recognised creative head Tonypet Sarmiento who will become its chief collaborator and Hermie de Leon who has previously been the chief executive of Omnicom media group before joining Havas Media MPG.
“The creation of this heavyweight and inspirational team is a testimony to our commitment to the region and the strength of the existing teams who have done so well over the past two years,” says Havas Media Asia-Pacific chief executive Vishnu Mohan. “The digitalisation of media and convergence of technology has created a totally new and constantly changing media landscape that requires new solutions.”
Havas Media has a presence in 122 markets.
“The move comes as part of a wider vision to build a strong and powerful Havas Media operation in the markets of the future and as one of the top ten social media markets in the world and with a predicted double digit growth rate, the Philippines is certainly one of these markets,” says Havas Media chief executive Alfonso Rodés Vilà.
