New board members and chair for MMA EMEA
15 June 2012
The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) has unveiled its new EMEA chairperson and board of directors.
The board was elected by the MMA’s membership and will serve a two-year term from the beginning of June. Out There Media chief executive Kerstin Trikalitis was appointed as the chair of the board.
The board includes Turkcell mobile marketing and loyalty management division head Berna Akyuz, Unilever director of global media innovation Jay Altschuler, Carat head of mobile Mark Brennan, Telefonica global director of advertising Shaun Gregory and Procter and Gamble head of digital brand operations Krister Karjalainen.
Also on the board is Vodafone group head of mobile marketing Jonathan Kelly, Mediacom EMEA head of mobile Steffan Krabbenhoft, IMI Mobile managing director Jay Patel, Joule Europe chief executive Dan Rosen and Huawei hed of advertising Nick Wiggin.
Mobilera chief marketing officer Arda Kertmelioglu was also appointed as vice-chair of MMA Middle East.
“Having such companies and individuals involved is testament to the pivotal role of the MMA as a powerful force in leading the global mobile marketing industry forward through the creation of critical industry standards, thought leadership and education,” says Trikalitis.
MMA EMEA chief marketing officer and managing director Paul Berney spoke at M&M’s Back to the Future conference earlier this week about
how mobile devices have changed consumer behaviour.
“The EMEA region is one of the most diverse in the world with the individual markets often needing a unique approach. Having members from across the market on our board will bolster the MMA’s efforts to support both established and emerging markets,” says Berney. “Our focus will continue to be supporting the uptake of mobile marketing by brands and agencies through events, education and research and through clearing any barriers to them investing in mobile.”
