Starcom MediaVest Group makes senior hires

Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) has appointed Brian Terkelsen as chief executive of MediaVest USA, effective immediately.
Terkelsen will report to SMG chief executive Laura Desmond. He takes over from Bill Tucker who has been appointed as president of SMG’s global client operations.
Terkelsen has been with MediaVest since 2003. He worked on the agency’s branded content practice which formed the basis of SMG LiquidThread in 2010.
Before joining MediaVest, he worked in the entertainment marketing sector, co-founding Eco-Challenge Lifestyles in 1992. At the company he served as an executive producer for several productions for MTV, ESPN and the Discovery Channel.
“Brian’s unique content, business-building, and digital marketing background, give him tremendous ability to bring big ideas and to know how to build them, with an eye to innovation and partnerships that drive growth for the agency and our clients,” says Desmond.
SMG has also appointed Matt Blackborn as president of emerging markets. Blackborn was previously executive vice-president and executive director of global client operations and has worked at the agency network since 1999.
