Marin Software brings Gordon Crovitz on board

Digital ad management company Marin Software has appointed former Dow Jones executive vice-president Gordon Crovitz to its board of directors.

Crovitz is also a member of the boards for ProQuest, Menneapolis Star-Tribune, Blurb and Business Insider. In addition, he sits on the advisory boards of several start-up companies including SocialMedian, Halogen Media, Hashable and SkyGrid.

Starting in 1981 as a writer at The Wall Street Journal, Crovitz rose to become its publisher and was appointed executive vice-president of Dow Jones in 1997. During his time at The Wall Street Journal, he launched the Dow Jones’ Consumer Media Group which integrated the global print, online, digital TV and other editions of the publication, MarketWatch.com and Barron’s.

Crovitz co-founded software-as-a-service company Journalism Online after leaving Dow Jones in 2007. Journalism Online was later acquired by RR Donnelley in 2011.

“As consumer attention and media budgets are increasingly being directed online, cutting-edge technology is making digital advertising more and more efficient for marketers,” says Crovitz.

Salesforce.com vice-chairman Frank van Veenendall, Proofpoint chief financial officer Paul Auvil and private investor Donald Hutchison are also members of Marin Software’s board.
