Adamski, who served as global chief executive officer of Razorfish Global network for just less than a year, leaves behind a wife and three children.

Executives have described Adamski as an inspirational figure within the Publicis organisation.

Publicis.Sapient chief executive officer Alan Herrick called him “an extraordinary man who led with integrity and made everyone around him better”. He added: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom’s family during this difficult time.”

Prior to taking over the chief executive position, Adamski was chief executive officer of Rosetta, which Publicis folded into the larger global group last September, reporting to Publicis Groupe chief executive Maurice Lévy.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Tom Adamski,” Lévy said. “Tom was an important part of the Publicis family for many years, serving as a member of the P12, and left a significant mark on the Groupe.

“While we mourn the loss of Tom, we honour his joie de vivre and the inspiration he was day after day.”

Razorfish veteran and North American chief executive Shannon Denton has served as interim since Adamski began receiving treatment and will continue for the immediate future.
