Is he a rocket scientist? Not an actual rocket scientist, but not far off. Alkis has a B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Montreal and an M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Quebec. He’s also got 22 years of experience in applied mathematics, software development and product management to bear on the engineering tasks, development initiatives and product management efforts he is responsible for, as well as handling all operational aspects related to ramping-up of the Semeon platform.
Who are you major backers? Funding to date exceeds $2million. The funding has come from Founders, Executive and Management team as well as friends and family.
What’s the track record? Investors believe in the technology we have put together, they have seen the Semeon platform grow in breadth and depth, while remaining at the forefront of the social media analytics market. We believe that these endorsements will lend themselves well to positioning Semeon with the VC investor.
What do they say? Investors have seen proof points along our development journey and they are now beginning to see commercialisation proof points as we roll out our sales and partner endeavours.

What makes your company different to its competitors? Our company is different because it focuses on a new type of technology that revolutionises the analytics industry. Our company uses semantic data analysis in order to understand data more accurately. Semeon’s competitors have been using lexical data analysis which is limited in its scope and capabilities since it can only count frequencies as opposed to using an intelligent algorithm.

How could your company change the world? By being able to take large amounts of social media data and turning it into actionable insights, Semeon Analytics Inc. is shifting the marketability of social media and effectively replacing traditional research.
Who do they compete with? Sysomos, Brandwatch, Simply Measured, Crimson Hexagon, Infigy as well as other up and coming 2nd generation platforms.
Who should be worried? Every company in social media analytics, that professes to be able to manage semantic and sentiment analysis. Semeon does this and has proof points to demonstrate that our approach with our Natural Language Processing, Patented Algorithms, Filtering technology, users are able to listen, engage, analyse and optimise their social media marketing investment. Semeon will introduce Intent Analysis as a new module in Q2 2015, which will be closely followed with a Predictive module in 2016.
If you could choose any investor globally who would it be? Sequoia Capital or Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Each could bring a combination of strategic capital and operational insight. Semeon is not ready to play in their leagues but the network would be an amazing asset for Semeon.
If you could poach any member of staff from any company in the world who would it be? We have spoken to a few candidates. The profile of our next “Thought Leader Genius” hire would come with a background in Data Science. Managing the complexity of data in our business if a challenge, the market is in flux and staying ahead of the crowd is our objective.
