NewsCred’s global head of strategy Alex Cheeseman has left the firm to join News Corporation-owned social news agency Storyful.
Cheeseman, who spent 16 months at NewsCred, took on the role of chief strategy officer at Storyful earlier this month.
Prior to joining NewsCred, he held the position of head of brands and agencies at Outbrain, and has also occupied roles at Lonely Planet and GEKKO.com.
Founded in Dublin in 2010 by former Irish TV presenter Mark Little, Storyful tracks breaking stories and viral videos on behalf of newsrooms and advertising clients.
It was acquired in 2013 by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp in a $25m deal. Little subsequently left in 2015 to join Twitter, and the business is now led by chief executive Rahul Chopra, who also holds the role of senior vice president of video for News Corp.
It was reported last year that News Corp would be investing a further €10m ($10.7m) into Storyful.
