Visa Europe is on a global hunt for an agency to handle creative surrounding its sponsorship of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
According to a report in Campaign, the credit card brand is holding pitches for the business, a process open to advertising agencies with a place on its roster. The brief is for an agency to create a campaign promoting Visa’s sponsorship of the Games.
The story said that as well as Visa Europe roster agencies, creative shops on Visa Inc’s roster have also been invited to take part in the process.
The 2016 Olympics take place in Rio de Janeiro 5-21 August and the Paralympics between 7-18 September 2016.
Visa Europe’s pitch is being handled by Gary Twelvetree, the firm’s executive director of brand and central marketing.
According to Campaign, Visa’s pan-European agency, Saatchi & Saatchi is not threatened by the review and the agency is understood to be pitching for the 2016 Olympics account.
Earlier this year, Visa kicked off a global media review for the first time in seven years, according to reports. During a previous review, Omnicom’s OMD retained the US account as well as acquiring more international business.
