Media is a far from interesting career today than 20 or 30 years ago, according to ZenithOptimedia’s global chairman John Taylor.
Speaking to M&M Global at last weeks Festival of Global Media 2015 in Rome, Taylor also joked that he had been haunted by nightmares of MediaCom’s worldwide chairman and CEO Stephen Allan.
Traditionally, media was about planning and buying, with a relatively limited amount of information available to consumers from a limited number of media owners. It was all about the deal, said Taylor.
As time has gone on, the role of media agencies has changed dramatically. We’re much more fundamental to the whole business of our clients, and we’re connecting with so many different people, so many specialists, so we now feel that we’re at the hub of an awful lot of things going on, he added.
