MEC has been appointed by Kingfisher to lead its consolidated media account across its seven international markets.
Following a competitive pitch, MEC was appointed to lead the account internationally in five markets – the UK and Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal and Romania – with GroupM agencies Maxus and Mindshare handling Russia and Poland.
Previously MEC held the UK account, with Maxus handling Russia.
MEC, Maxus and Mindshare will be responsible for all offline media in all countries, and the online media in the majority of them. Some specialist digital agencies have been retained.
“Kingfisher is a fantastic business, with ambitious plans to unify its business under its One Kingfisher vision,” said MEC global chief operating officer Alastair Aird. “We are delighted to have been appointed following such a rigorous process in the face of strong competition and we look forward to the journey ahead.”
The Kingfisher’s main brands in the UK are B&Q, Tradepoint and Screwfix. Internationally, it operates Castorama in France, Poland and Russia, and Brico Dépôt in France, Spain and Romania.
Earlier in 2017, a new leadership team was appointed for MEC APAC, including managing director of MEC Singapore and MEC Global Solutions Asia Pacific Allison Coley and Connie Chan named the agency’s first regional chief client officer.
