Utzschneider will be responsible for Yahoo’s ad business across the Americas and will report directly to Yahoo chief executive Marissa Mayer, who confirmed the appointment on Yahoo’s Tumblr blog.

All sales teams across North and South America will report to Utzschneider.

“Lisa has a demonstrated track record as a leader and as a business builder, focused on creating and expanding sales relationships as well as scaling technological innovation,” said Mayer.

“She brings unique strengths to Yahoo in terms of identifying new opportunities to maximize the value of advertising in a rapidly expanding and evolving media landscape.”

“I look forward to working with this team and with Yahoo’s technology platforms to deliver value to advertisers and to delight consumers with unique and personalized ads,” said Utzschneider.

Most recently, Utzschneider led Amazon’s display advertising efforts as vice president of global advertising sales. She has also worked at Microsoft.

Meanwhile, Ned Brody, the former AOL Networks chief executive who joined Yahoo last year, will assume the newly created role of senior vice president, advertising technology and strategy.

Once fully transitioned, Brody will focus on the deployment of new ad tech and go-to-market strategies for Yahoo across its advertising portfolio.
